Three incidents of robbery at knifepoint had been reported here since Tuesday.
Three students of a community college were robbed by three persons, said to be teenagers.
When the students, including, M. Sugumar, 17, were walking under a road overbridge at Jaihindpuram at 5.30 p.m., three youths had waylaid them. Suddenly, one of them pulled out a knife and placed it on the complainant and threatened all of them with dire consequences.
The trio forced the students to part with three mobile phones and ₹10,600. The Jaihindpuram police are investigating.
In the other incident reported at Kulamangalam main road at Sellur on Wednesday evening, S. Udhayakumar (30) of Manamadurai was robbed of over two sovereigns of gold, a mobile phone and ₹7,000 in an autorickshaw.
The police said that the man had got down at MGR integrated bus stand and had taken an auto to Nelpettai. Two more persons had boarded the auto on the way. The driver had diverted from the direct route to Nelpettai and took the auto to Sellur.
When the auto was proceeding near Kulamangalam main road, the duo had brandished a knife and snatched from him the valuables. The Sellur police are investigating.
Meanwhile, in another case, three persons who came in an autorickshaw had waylaid, a lorry driver, R. Jaffer (35) of Krishnagiri district on Thursday midnight.
The police said that Jaffer had left his lorry at the vegetable market in Paravai. When he came out to the road to attend to nature’s call, he was waylaid by three persons who came in an auto.
At knifepoint, they robbed him of a mobile phone, a power bank and ₹220. The Koodal Nagar police are investigating.
