The large-scale project from Ovolo Hotels was led by acclaimed global architecture firm, Woods Bagot, the award-winning designers behind the revitalization of The Ivy, Sydney and The Garden House, Melbourne. Intended as a design-seeker’s paradise, Ovolo The Valley serves up a frenzy of rich color, commissioned art pieces, vivid wallpaper and playful furniture. The 103 whimsically designed rooms and suites are divided into five unique categories: Medium (designed for comfort and ideal for short stays); Large (open-plan design to ensure guests feel at home); Large Spa (large open-plan design with a private spa bath); The Valley Suites (spacious suites with private top-floor balconies); and Rockstar Suites (signature suites with king-sized beds, separate lounges, bar/dining areas, speaker units and original art pieces by Daniel R. Watkins and Gerwyn Davies).
“Our brief to Woods Bagot was that each of our hotels must have its own unique personality and style, inspired by local surrounds, culture, heritage and Ovolo’s playful, forward-thinking spirit, and they’ve delivered exactly that,” said Girish Jhunjhnuwala, Founder and CEO of the Ovolo Group.”There is an element of fantasy, escapism and play in Ovolo The Valley. We’re positioning it as the perfect contemporary oasis to escape our busy urban lives.”

Ovolo The Valley also boasts a rooftop swimming pool with sweeping views out over Fortitude Valley, a gym, sauna and unique meeting room, aptly named, “B.I.G.” Ovolo Hotels’ brand-standard “effortless living” ethos is present throughout, with all rooms and suites offering 24-hour room service, large flat-screen televisions, Google Chromecast, additional wall plugs, phone chargers and Amazon’s Alexa cloud-based voice service. And as with all Ovolo Hotels, guests who book directly with Ovolo The Valley will also receive complimentary Wi-Fi, self-laundry, breakfast, social happy hour, mini-bar and loot bag full of treats.

Tourism Industry Development Minister, Kate Jones, declared that the opening of Ovolo The Valley was a great milestone for Brisbane. “We’re proud that Girish has chosen yet again to bring his unique Ovolo style and sensibility to Brisbane,” said Jones. “The group has seized the opportunity to reposition and deliver one of the city’s most well-known hotels into a new era with the Ovolo The Valley. Following on from the Ovolo Inchcolm opening last year, we see the group’s second hotel as a major vote of confidence in Brisbane. With investments totaling approximately AU$90 million this project is helping to solidify Brisbane’s reputation as a world-class destination.”

In early 2019, Ovolo The Valley will unveil a new restaurant and bar concept from renowned chef and restaurateur Justin North, following his recent opening of Mister Percy restaurant and wine bar at Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour in Sydney. The restaurant’s interior design will be spearheaded by the award-winning Sydney-based design firm, Luchetti Krelle.
