Donald Trump has learned some Spanish - or so he says.
The president headed to Argentina for the G20 Summit held in Buenos Aires on Friday where he stood side by side with President Mauricio Macri and seemed to struggle to understand the translation delivered into his earpiece.
As the South American president shared kind greetings in Spanish, Trump tossed his his translation earpiece to the ground telling Macri 'I think I understood you better in your language than I did on this. But that's okay'.
Just moments prior Trump looked flustered with the translation as he pressed the machine into his ear with a distracted and stern face, slightly nodding as a smiling Macri showered him with praise.

Macri praised Trump in Spanish before reporters as the president seemed to struggle to understand him and leaned into his earpiece during the meeting at the Casa Rosada

He eventually gave up on the translator and dumped it on the ground saying: 'I think I understood you better in your language than I did on this. But that's okay'
'It’s a great opportunity to thank you — to thank you for the huge support we have received from the United States and from your government, especially during this past year. We’ve been going through some difficult times,' Macri said at the Casa Rosada, Argentina's presidential mansion.
But Trump didn't seem to understand too well with his ear glued to the earpiece and his face stale, giving little reaction to Macri's kind words.
Later Trump said he will talk with Macri on 'issues that will benefit both countries' such as trade and purchasing military equipment.
'I want to just say that I’ve been friends with Mauricio for a long time, many years. People wouldn’t know that. He was a very young man, very handsome man. And we knew each other very well. And I actually did business with his family, with his father,' adding he was fond of his memories with the Macri family.

Over it: Trump looked stern and distracted as he struggled to decipher the translation of Macri's speech on Friday

The president took to Twitter to gush about the productive meetings he'll have at the G20 summit

The participants of the G20 Summit posed for a family photo on Friday before launching talks on international issues at the first summit to be held in South America

The summit began on Friday, Trump pictured above listening to Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May
'Little did I know that his son would become a President, (inaudible) you were going to be. And little did you realize that I was going to become President,' the president added.
He added to President Macri: 'You're my friend a long time and you're doing an excellent job.'
Trump has already isolated himself from the peace conference that will see national leaders meet over the next 48 hours.
The White House announced that Trump would be holding 'one-on-ones' with China, Russia, Japan, Germany, Argentina, Turkey, South Korea and India.
But Trump already cancelled the first meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, taking to Twitter to explain he axed the meeting because Russia failed to return the Ukrainian ships and sailors they seized earlier this week back to their mother country.
Then he also later cancelled his formal meetings with Turkey and South Korea.
He'll also likely come face to face with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, just weeks after the president claimed there was no evidence against the Saudi royal in the death of prominent Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.
