HYDERABAD: The Congress stepped up attacks on the TRS government and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on social media, charging him with various scams and living in a palatial building with ‘bulletproof bathrooms’. “While Telangana reported second highest farmer suicides CM K Chandrashekar Rao is sleeping in Pragati Bhavan built at Rs 300 crore with a bulletproof bathroom,” said one of the Congress posts.
Under its ‘30 days-30 questions’ campaign, Congress asked KCR why cases against renegade naxal Nayeemuddin, drugs mafia, N-Convention, among others were closed. Alleging that KCR government resorted to several irrigation scams, Congress claimed, in a series of videos, short films, graphics and memes, that in the Kaleshwaram irrigation scam Rao changed the design of the Pranahita Chevella project pushing up costs from Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 85,000 crore.
It also claimed Mission Bhagiratha scam was to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore and that in the Miyapur land scam, 796 acres worth around Rs 10,000 crore were illegally transferred to private entities by the registration department.
Recalling the fake passport and human trafficking case, Congress alleged that CM KCR and minister Harish Rao’s names figured in the confession statement of one of the accused, Shakeel, who is now contesting on a TRS ticket. The Telangana Congress campaign also targeted TRS’s ally AIMIM, alleging that the government gave it land worth Rs 40 crore at a throwaway price of Rs 3.5 crore.
