Amidst a severe political turmoil ongoing in the island country, the motion to cut finances to the ministries was submitted to Parliament by from the Jathika Hela Urumaya, a party loyal to ousted Ranil Wickremesinghe, news agency reported.

The motion was passed with 122 MPs in the 225 member in favour whilst MPs from Rajapaksa's boycotted parliamentary sessions for the fourth consecutive time.

Rajapaksa, who was appointed the in the new Cabinet by on October 26, earlier said that he and his party opposed Karu Jayasuriya's behaviour and they would boycott sessions till such time they were recognized as the ruling party.
