‘Raithara Maneyalli Rajya Sarkara’ to be launched in December

In a bid to connect with farmers, the State government will launch ‘Raithara Maneyalli Rajya Sarkara’ programme from December.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and a host of his Cabinet colleagues along with officials of Agriculture and allied departments will visit one identified village in each district and hold a meeting with farmers. “We will have awareness programme to bring changes in the farming practices,” Mr. Kumaraswamy told reporters here on Thursday after holding a meeting with over 60 farmers’ representatives from across the State.

His announcement followed the first meeting with farmers’ representatives here in which scientists from agricultural universities and officials of Agriculture and Horticulture departments were present. The Chief Minister said that following the meeting — where suggestions from farmers on issues such as supply of quality seeds, good storage facilities, and marketing were received — he directed scientists and officials to come up with plans to implement them when they meet again next month.
