Traffic hit on Dimbam ghat road for 16 hrs
tnn | Nov 30, 2018, 00:55 ISTCoimbatore: Traffic came to a standstill on the Dimbam ghat road for more than 16 hours after a truck lost control while negotiating the ninth hairpin bend and crashed through the barricade on the early hours of Thursday. Truck driver, identified as Periasamy, was injured in the incident.
Operations to remove the truck and open the route for vehicles travelling between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were on till Thursday evening. The Bannari Amman check post closed the route from Thursday morning, when they received the information about the accident.
Many vehicles, which were climbing up or down the hill, were stuck without even being able to turn around for many hours. People, including children, were stuck for hours without restroom facilities, food or water, an official said.
