Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) has tracked down driver of the auto that former cricketer and NRI Mittal Saraiya had boarded on Tuesday afternoon. The auto driver, however, hasn’t been able to give much clue to the cops who have been making efforts to track down Saraiya, who went missing on Tuesday after he boarded an auto near Amrapali Complex in Karelibaug.
“The auto-driver is in his sixties and he has memory loss problem. When we questioned him, he told us different points where he dropped Saraiya. He is not able to remember the exact spot where he dropped Saraiya. Once we get the spot where Saraiya got off the auto, we will be able to investigate further,” said Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime).
Jadeja also met the family members of Saraiya on Thursday and tried to ascertain whether he was facing any problem. A university-level cricketer in 1970s, Saraiya was in the Ranji probables too but he shifted to the US and started his own business there. Saraiya used to visit the city every two years and he had recently arrived here for treatment of his father. His sudden disappearance has left his relatives and friends baffled.
“We have formed nine separate teams consisting of 90 cops to track Saraiya down,” Jadeja said.
