St. Anne’s make Hockey semis

Pune: St Anne’s High School, camp-made a statement of intent with a convincing 4-0 win over Angel High School, Loni Kalbhor in the quarter-finals to make it to last four of Girl’s hockey event here on Wednesday. Lawanya Salunke was on fire as her brace proved to be instrumental for the victors in the match played at Major Dhyanchand Polygrass Stadium in Pimpri.

Such was their command, that St Anne girls enjoyed major spells of possession in the opposition half. 

In the second quarter-final, St. Joseph Convent School, Khadki sneaked past Angel High School, Uruli Kanchan 2-1 to make it to the last four. 

Angel High School took an early lead via Vishakha Nanaware  in the fourth minute, but could not maintain their consistency throughout. St Joseph Convent School upped their game as they chased an equaliser. They were level on 28th minute as Mahek Sayyed struck from an open field. Mahek, made it two goals in two minutes to turn their deficit to lead. 

The New Millennium English Medium Higher School & Jr. College, New Sangvi brushed aside their opponents St Helena’s School 5-0 in a one-sided contest, while St Joseph’s High School completed the semi-final line-up with a walkover against Goolbai Muluk Irani Kanya Shala.
