MYSURU: Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy expressed his displeasure at the deteriorating quality in the vice-chancellor appointments in the state. “We need to start work on improving the quality of VCs,” he said.
At an interactive session with VCs of state and private universities, he said he’s ready to bring changes in the system though they may create problems. “If I’m strict, they will make me vacate my chair. But I want to see some radical changes. We need to convert one of the existing state universities into an international one. The initiative will be supported by the state. The university VCs and registrars must come with a plan,” he said.
“The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has more than Rs 1,200 crore in its accounts. They could have started a medical college or hospital to benefit both students and people,” said Kumaraswamy.
Tough talk
“I’ll survive for the next five years. I’ve learned the art of political management,” said the CM.
