HYDERABAD: Reiterating that the BJP is totally against reservations on religion basis, Union home minister Rajnath Singh has asked the political parties not to scare the minorities away. “The BJP is opposed to giving reservations based on caste, creed and religion. Our mantra is sab ka empowerment,” the minister said.

The TRS government proposed 12% reservations to Muslim minorities, but it should explain to the people whose quota it wants to cut down, he said. Rajnath participated in various public meetings in erstwhile Mahbubnagar district such as Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and other places.

He took pot-shots on Praja Kutami and called it a ‘unholy alliance’. “The TDP was founded by NTR against Congress misrule and corruption, but the TDP has now joined hands with Congress,” he said.

“Telangana has no dearth of natural resources, manpower or skill. However, development has not been on a par with other states due to lack of political will by the TRS government. As many as 4,500 farmers have committed suicide in Telangana in the last four-and-a-half years,” he said and alleged that the state government was diverting the central funds to other schemes.

He said if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, development would be six times more than that of existing growth.
