AM Naik appointed Chairman of National Skill Development Corp

NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday appointed AM Naik as the Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Naik is currently the Group Chairman of engineering conglomerate Larsen and Toubro.
Commenting on the appointment, Minister for Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan said, "His (Naik's) standing in the community of industrial leaders will strongly enhance the industry connect. I am confident that this organisation under his leadership should also be a think tank providing direction and necessary guidance for creating a demand based skilling ecosystem in the country."
Naik said: "I am pleased at this opportunity to contribute towards our common vision of a high skill, high value added economy that offers opportunity to all."
NSDC was set up in 2008 under the Public Private Partnership model. The Centre through Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship holds 49 per cent of the share capital of NSDC, while the private sector has the balance of 51 per cent.
