The deadlock over tabling the Maratha and Dhangar reservations continues for the fifth day in the State Legislative Council. The council was adjourned thrice on Tuesday over the demand of Maratha reservations and compensation to the drought-affected farmers.

The Leader of Opposition, Legislative Council and NCP MLC Dhananjay Munde demanded to table the Backwards Class Commission and Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) reports regarding Maratha and Dhangar reservations in House. However, treasury benches refused to table both.

Munde said that BJP led government is misguiding the people over reservations.

"What is there to hide in the reports of backward class commission? On one hand, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said it is time for the Maratha community to celebrate the decision of Maratha reservations and on the other, they are not tabling the report. This is misleading. We need to have clarity over this crucial subject," Munde demanded.

Responding to Munde's remark, BJP minister Chandrakant Patil said that the government had earlier put out 54 such reports and out of it, 40 reports were not tabled in House. "We are just following the precedent set by the Congress and the NCP government. Besides, as per the law, it is not mandatory to table the report in House. We can surely have the Action Taken Report (ATR) and recommendations of commission report on House," Patil explained.
