Two killed as car rams parked lorry

Two persons were killed and three others seriously injured when a car rammed a stationary lorry at Edaikal near Ulundurpet in the district on Tuesday. The victims who died on the spot, were identified as Radha, 45, and her son Ambareesh, 22, from Nachikuri in Tiruchi district.

According to the police, Radha’s husband Babu, a manager of Indian Overseas Bank in Chennai, had passed away on Monday.

The family had hired an ambulance to carry the body to Nachikuri and were following the vehicle in a car.

When suddenly, the driver lost control and rammed a stationary lorry on the roadside. In the impact, Radha and Ambareesh died on the spot while Radha’s mother Thangam, her daughter Sonia and Chandra Babu, a mechanic, who was carrying out repairs on the lorry sustained serious injuries. A case has been registered.

They were rushed to the Ulundurpet Government Hospital and were later referred to the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) in Puducherry.
