The telecom giant offers the fibre-to-the-home connection at competitive tariffs

Over a 100 BSNL employees cutting across departments took out a motorcycle rally across the city to spread the word about the high-speed fibre broadband services of the public sector telecom service provider.

The rally was organised as part of BSNL Puducherry’s aggressive roll out of fibre broadband services across the city both directly and through four franchisees.

The rally had stop-overs at over 10 locations, aiming to distribute literature highlighting the benefits of the FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) project, which offers Internet browsing speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

BSNL Puducherry general manager Jayakumar Jayavelu, who flagged off the initiative and also led the rally, said several attractive slabs had been devised for various categories of Internet users.

Attractive offers

From a base plan of ₹249 a month, the fibre broadband that delivers high-speed Internet over optical fibre instead of the traditional copper cable, is available for ₹777 (50 Mbps and 500 GB limit) and ₹1,277 (100 Mbps and 750 GB). “We have the optical fibre infrastructure to deliver FTTH not only across the city but to the 73 gram panchayats,” Mr. Jayavelu said. The FTTH push is in line with the Government of India’s Digital India vision, he added.

The rally, which set off from the BSNL General Manager’s office at 2 p.m., had halts scheduled Clock Tower (Bussy Street), Anna Statue (Botanical Garden), Nellithope Market (near Vijaya Medicals), Oulgaret Municipality (Jawahar Nagar), Moolakulam MGR Statue, Mettupalayam Estate Entrance (near signal), Mettupalayam Industrial Estate (Gothi package), Indira Priyadharshini Nagar, Kokku Park(near Govt. Press), Saram (Avvai Thidal) and Balaji Theatre.
