Slammed from all around, including his own partymen, for making objectionable statements during a recent poll campaign for the Congress party candidate in Rajasthan’s Peelibanga Assembly constituency, former president of Indian Youth Congress and MLA from Gidderbaha Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has now been boycotted by media persons of his home constituency. In a facebook live message on Monday, Warring had slammed media for highlighting his ‘controversial speech’, in which he was warning the voters of Rajasthan to face his dogs if the Congress candidate doesn’t win with a margin less than 20,000 votes. Warring was also offering them cough syrup in the evening, if they make the candidate win with the said margin. The offer of Cough syrup irked all in Punjab including Congress leaders as the cough syrup, having sedative effect, had once gripped the youth of Punjab in its deadly clutches and only after sustained efforts of the state police and health department, the menace could be checked to a large extent, though not completely.
In his 13-minute clarification on facebook, Warring hinted that the cough syrup meant liquor and while going overboard, he indirectly hit his own government for selling it. Lashing out at media persons, the Congress MLA alleged that the media persons “unreasonably highlighted the issue”, mentioning that media persons need favours from politicians and if anyone doesn’t serve them with goodies, they go biased against him.” Taking a strong objection to his statement, media persons of Gidderbaha announced the boycott of his programmes, which would continue until Raja Warring tenders apology to them.
Divulging details, senior journalist from Gidderbaha Suraj Sharma informed that disturbed over his derogatory remarks against the fraternity, media persons from Lambi, Muktsar and Malout also came in their support.
