Transwoman contesting Telangana elections goes missing

HYDERABAD: The only transwoman contesting the upcoming Telangana polls, Chandramukhi Muvvala, went missing on Tuesday. Banjara Hills Police have registered a missing complaint and have formed special teams to trace her.


"Chandramukhi disappeared suspiciously on Tuesday. We are still checking the CCTV footage near her house in Banjara Hills," said KS Rao, assistant commissioner of police, Banjara Hills.


"After 8.20 am her number is switched off and the door of her house is locked from the outside. But no one saw her going out," said Vyjayanthi Vasantha Mogli, a transgender community activist in Hyderabad.


Chandramukhi who was contesting from the Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad on a Bahujan Left Front (BLF) ticket was said to be happy with the response from campaigning in the Goshamahal area.


Vinnu, a trans man who is campaign schedule in charge told TOI, Chandramukhi would inform him about wherever she goes and whoever she meets, while, she finds her sudden disappearance suspicious.
