Blake Davis granted bail over alleged murder of Sydney rapper

The man accused of murdering a home invader with a samurai sword on a Sydney street has been granted bail, with his parents agreeing to provide almost half a million dollars as security.

Blake Davis, 29, whimpered and shook throughout his NSW Supreme Court hearing on Monday when Justice Stephen Rothman granted him bail on strict conditions including a curfew, daily police reporting, electronic monitoring and $493,000 surety.

The judge said he found it "pathetic" the Crown could not provide any evidence to the court that Mr Davis would commit another murder or serious offence beyond the single charge against him.

Mr Davis and his girlfriend Hannah Quinn, 24, are each charged with the murder of 30-year-old aspiring rapper Jett McKee, who was found dead in the middle of a street in Forest Lodge in August 2018 with a balaclava and replica pistol nearby.

After a dramatic weekend on the run in hotel rooms across Sydney, the pair handed themselves in at Newtown Police Station on August 14.

The court heard previously that police will rely on "hundreds" of exhibits seized from six crime scenes to convict the pair over the alleged murder.

Police facts seen by the Herald say that aspiring rapper and problem gambler Jett McKee broke into the Forest Lodge home Mr Davis lived in, demanding money.

“You don’t want to get hurt, I will shoot you. There’s lots more people like me that will shoot you, give me all your valuables,” he said.

Armed with a replica pistol, police say Mr McKee hit Mr Davis in the face with knuckledusters before Mr McKee ran from the home.

Ms Quinn, a Tafe student, gave chase, tackling Mr McKee to his knees.

Mr Davis then allegedly hit Mr McKee over the head with a samurai sword that had been mounted on his wall.

Mr McKee got to his feet briefly and stumbled to the middle of the road, where he died.

Police facts say the alleged attack left Mr McKee with a 25cm wound to his skull, breaking three bones.

Ms Quinn is currently on bail and living with her mother in Redfern as she prepares for trial.
