Metal pole used in Melbourne road rage attack caught on CCTV
Security cameras have captured the moment a motorcyclist grabbed a metal pole from a truck driver and struck him, during a suspected case of road rage in Melbourne.
About 8pm on Monday, the motorcyclist and the truck driver turned off Mickleham Road in Tullamarine, into a service road.
The footage shows the truck driver approach the motorcyclist with what appears to be a metal pole.
After exchanging words, the motorcyclist seizes the pole off the driver and starts swinging it, hitting the driver’s legs.
The two continue to argue before the motorcyclist throws the pole away, allowing the driver to retrieve it.
At one point, the driver readies the pole in self-defence as the motorcyclist approaches him again.
Tullamarine resident Jan said his CCTV cameras captured the stoush, while he was not at home.
His wife told him to check the footage after she heard screaming and shouting.
Jan described the two minute fight as staggering and was confused by what the footage revealed.
"I don’t understand who started it out or who was at fault," he told 3AW radio host Neil Mitchell.
"You don’t expect anyone to be driving around with a 2 x 4 metal bar in easy reach."
