WhatsApp's chief business officer Neeraj Arora has resigned. Neeraj Arora announced hi sexit via a Facebook post after 7-year long stint with the company.

“Time flies for sure but not memories. It is hard to believe that it has been seven years since Jan and Brian got me onboard at WhatsApp, and it has been one hell of a ride!” Arora wrote in his blog.

Neeraj Arora is an IIT Delhi, ISB graduate who has previously worked with top internet firms including Paytm and Google. He has worked as the Corporate Development Manager at Google for three years after which he had been promoted to the role of a senior member of the Corporate Development Team where he served for a year. He was one of the Board of Directors at Vijay Shekhar Sharma-led PayTm.

Neeraj Arora has joined WhatsApp in 2011.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp said recently had hired Abhijit Bose, the co-founder and chief executive of Indian mobile payments firm Ezetap, to be the head of its operations in India, its biggest market by users.

Bose’s appointment is the first time WhatsApp has created a country head role anywhere in the world, the company said.

Bose will begin his new role at WhatsApp in early 2019 and will report to Idema.

Bose’s appointment comes just two months after parent Facebook named streaming service Hotstar’s chief Ajit Mohan as its first India head.

The two appointments are crucial: India is the biggest market by users for both Facebook and WhatsApp and both firms are trying to get their social media strategies in place ahead of India’s general election next year.
