An official source said the portal will be upgraded and promoted by the university. “It is a small step to bring together the alumni under a single platform,” said university vice-chancellor Soumendra Mohan Patnaik.
Attending as a chief guest of the foundation day function, governor and chancellor of the universities Ganeshi Lal exhorted the students to be abreast of present developments and utilize the time in a proper manner to make the future better. “Students should understand potential of their inner self and work for the betterment of the society,” he added.
RK Jain, a noted educationist, said he could not find any difference between a central university and a state university after coming to Utkal. “It has the potential to become an international-standard institute,” he added.
A postage stamp on Utkal University’s 75 years was released by Lal in the presence of Anant Narayan Nanda, secretary, India Post.
