#StateCaptureInquiry: TNA and ANN7 were punished for reporting on 'white collar corporate capture' – Manyi

Former head of the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) Mzwanele Manyi says The New Age (TNA) newspaper and its sister news channel ANN7 were "punished" for reporting on "white collar corporate capture".

Manyi bought TNA and ANN7 from the Gupta family in 2017. The media companies went under about a year later.

#StateCaptureInquiry: Van Rooyen advisor issued instructions to staff before swearing in

So-called "weekend special" finance minister Des van Rooyen had not even been sworn in yet when his new advisor, Mohammed Bobat, started issuing instructions to Treasury staff, the state capture commission of inquiry has heard.

Bobat seemed to have been given authority which surpassed his role as ministerial advisor. In breaking a number of protocols and interfering in due processes at Treasury, Van Rooyen and his advisors shocked and angered senior officials.

WATCH: SABC camera equipment stolen during #StateCaptureInquiry

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating a case of theft after South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) camera equipment was reported stolen during the state capture inquiry.

A bag of equipment belonging to the public broadcaster was allegedly taken from the commission in Parktown, Johannesburg during the lunch break on Monday.
