Inspections and surprise raids of Punjab School Education department (P.S.E.B.) under the aegis of the Education Minister is mere an eye wash as otherwise the education department is least bothered about the future of students studying in the Punjab. Can you imagine a school without a teacher! There is no need to imagine as such a school is exiting at the Batala town of Gurdaspur district. As in the Government School of Batala, there is not even a single teacher to teach 130 students. Though school has good infrastructure such as school building, playground and slogans written on charts. But it does not have four walls and main gate which show the lackluster attitude of the education department towards the future of students in the Goverment school.
According to the education department, the Government School of Batala has ten sanctioned posts of teachers and one sweeper. As per the reliable sources alleged other than one sweeper, posts of ten teachers are vacant from past few years. The ten teachers which were deputed at the Government School of Batala get their transfers done with the passage of time and from past few months. From time to time one or two teachers were deputed at Government School but after sometime they also go back to their own schools from where they were sent on deputation. There is just one teacher posted in school on deputation from past few time. It is a known fact that how one or two teachers on deputation for few days would be able to make a bright future of the students. As either they would control more than hundred students of different classes or would make them study. Moreover they cannot make them study all the subjects at the same time. So it’s a joke with the life and study of the students in the Government School of Batala in the Punjab.Surjit Kaur, who was sent on deputation at Government School Batala four days ago when, asked about the situation of school said, “I have informed about the situation of the school to higher education authorities and panchayat on first day only but to no avail. I am the only teacher in the school on deputation I don’t know should I control the school or make them study. I cannot make all study at the same time. Tenth is an important class and they need extra care but they are not even getting proper of all subjects.”. It is pertinent to mention that the education department has put the tenth standard students future at stake as in the last year tenth class only three students got pass from 29 students, while others face compartments and failed in exams In the last year tenth class only three students got pass from 29 students, while others face compartments and failed.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister of Punjab and Education Minister talks big of bringing a revolution in the education department which is away from the ground reality. In the conferences they talk big of ding inspections and talking big taking action against teachers which don’t devote time to make students study properly. But what should be done to the higher officials who are not distributing teachers properly and transferring them without even checking the school whether any teacher left in the school or not to make the students study in the school. They are blindly doing the transfers without even checking who will make the students study. Even the higher officials at change of government carried out inspections did transfers which show that it was mere eye wash on the name of bringing a revolution in the department with better results. How the students will pass when there no teacher to make them study and how will they pass exams!
BOX: Education Minister Punjab found unware about the school situation
Education Minister Punjab, OP Soni talking to Daily Post claimed, “I am not aware about the situation of this school. But I will look in to the matter and will do needful as soon as possible. As to provide good education to the Goverment School students is our priority for students bright future.”
