Gautam Budh Nagar police on Sunday arrested two people from Greater Noida — a 29-year-old woman and her lover — for being allegedly involved in the murder of the woman's husband.
Police said the victim's body was recovered from in his car on Saturday night near his house in Omicron 1 area of Greater Noida.
The accused have been identified as Khushboo and Dharmendra. Cops say the duo made the murder look like a suicide.
Police said the body of the deceased, 35-year-old Satveer Singh, was found in his car which was abandoned in a green zone near his house.
"He had been missing since Friday. However, his wife did not approach the police. Later, on Saturday night, he was found with a cloth around his neck which was tied to the vehicle's door. A suicide note was also recovered in which Singh had blamed his wife's affair with Dharmendra, his distant relative, for committing suicide," said a senior police officer.
Police said it was found during investigation that the suicide note was not written by the deceased.
A case of murder was lodged against the duo.
"Based on that complaint, an FIR under Section 302 has been registered at the greater Noida police station, following which Khushboo and Dharmendra have been arrested," said a senior police officer.
Police are now waiting for the autopsy report. "The chances are that it will indicate murder rather than suicide, However, the report will come on Tuesday, following which we will know the cause of death. We are also waiting for the forensic team to submit their report," said a senior police officer. The duo was produced before a magistrate and later sent to jail.
