Unknown persons attacked the residences of a Congress leader and a recently-elected panch with explosives in Pulwama on Monday. Meanwhile, jawan was injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan earlier in the day.
An official said suspected militants tossed a petrol bomb at the house of Abdul Rashid Bhat, a Panch, at Kuchmulla Tral, Pulwama. “It exploded outside the house. No injury or loss of life was reported,” said the official.
In a separate incident, another petrol bomb was hurdled towards the house of Congress leader Ghulam Muhammad Mir of Butagund in Tral. “It exploded inside the courtyard. The attack was retaliated by the policemen guarding the house. No loss of life or injury was reported,” said the official.
Militants also attacked a patrolling party of the Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Tral’s Pinglish area. The Army cordoned off the area after the attack.
Soldier injured
A solider was injured in firing by Pakistan Rangers in Machil Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara in the afternoon.
“Pakistani troops fired from sniper rifles upon the Army posts of 17 JAKLI in Machil at around 01:05 p.m. One soldier was injured and shifted to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment,” said an official.
The injured soldier was identified as Lance Naik Pradeep Kumar. Meanwhile, Gujerdoora area of Machil also witnessed ceasefire violations by Pakistan for about fifteen minutes.
