The police rounded-up 26 members of the Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers’ Federation when they attempted to burn copy of the Government Orders which prevented them from getting the pay on par with the Central Government teachers.

The secondary grade teachers of the primary schools have been demanding the Government to remove the pay anomalies for a long. Since the Government did not withdraw its orders which affected the teachers, they attempted to burn the copy of the GO No. 234 and 303 which prevented the provision of pay on par with Central teachers.

A section of the members of the Federation, raising slogans against the State Government, attempted to burn the GO. But the police thwarted their attempt and took 26 of them, including a woman, into custody.

Ganesan, district president of the Federation, who led the agitation, said that their struggle will continue till their demands were met.

In Namakkal, the police rounded up about 50 members of the federation, including a few women, when they attempted to burn the GO copy in front of the Namakkal South Governmnet Higher Secondary School in the town.
