A mother whose body was found in a reservoir along with that of her five-year-old son was from Old Colwyn.
Friends of Emma Sillett, who died at the Valehouse Reservoir in Derbyshire last week, described her as a "nice, quiet girl".
It's understood Ms Sillett, 41, grew up in Llysfaen, on the Peulwys Estate, attending Ysgol Tan y Marian, in Colwyn Bay and Ysgol Bryn Elian secondary school in Old Colwyn.
A 41-year-old woman who knew Ms Sillett said she was devastated to learn of the news.
She said: "I had a massive shock when I put the TV on and heard the name Emma Sillett and of the terrible thing that has happened to her and her little boy.
"I was at school with her at both Ysgol Tan y Marian and at Ysgol Bryn Elian, we used to hang out together on Peulwys Estate.
"She lived with her mum."
The woman continued: "We drifted apart when we got older, as she was a very quiet girl, more a goody two-shoes type than me. She was a nice girl."
She added: The last time I saw her was years ago at the Broadway Boulevard, she was out with friends.
"I can't believe what has happened, it's horrible."
It is understood Miss Sillett's mother Gwen still lives in Colwyn Bay.
Miss Sillett and her son Jenson Spellman were last seen on Tuesday night at a McDonald's in Hattersley, Greater Manchester.
After a search police found her black Peugot 308 at the Valehouse Reservoir and confirmed on Thursday they had found two bodies.

The tragedy has rocked the community of Glossop, where Ms Sillett lived with Jenson.
Devastated classmates at Simmondley Primary School in Glossop have today left tributes for little Jenson.
The school gates were covered with pictures drawn by youngsters with heartbreaking messages to the "lovely" boy.
Assistant Chief Constable Kem Mehmet from the Derbyshire Constabulary said: "At 11.35pm on Tuesday, November 20, we received a call to report Emma Sillett and Jenson Spellman as missing.
"Since then extensive enquiries have been carried out by police and external agencies to locate 41-year-old Emma and five-year-old Jenson safe and well.
"After a detailed search by specialist officers, it is with great sadness, that the bodies of what are believed to be Emma and Jenson were located at Valehouse Reservoir earlier today.
"At this time our enquiries are ongoing and officers will be in the area for some time to come.
"Whilst in the investigation is in its early stages we have no indication that any other person is involved in their deaths. Further enquires are ongoing to establish the full facts of the case.
"I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my own condolences, as well as those of every officer in Derbyshire, to the family and friends of Emma and Jenson."
