Alappuzha boy wins MN student award

Thiruvananthapuram: K Gopikrishnan, a student of Naduvatttom VHSS at Pallippad in Alappuzha, has won the 11th MN Student award for the best student. The award has been instituted in memory of freedom fighter and communist leader M N Govindan Nair, for residents of Laksham Veedu colonies in the state.
The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a certificate, will be presented on the late parliamentarian’s 108th birth anniversary which falls on December 10.
Nair, a former minister and MP, had been in the forefront for establishing Laksham Veedu colonies in the state.
Son of Beena S and Krishna Kumar of Panchavady Laksham Veedu colony in Cheppad panchayat in Alappuzha, Gopikrishnan had emerged the SSLC top scorer among students from around 1,000 Laksham Veedu colonies across the state. tnn
