PATNA: Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Anand Kishor on Saturday said the students of classes X and XII would not have to write their names, roll number, registration number, year of examination and subject code on the answer-sheets from next year onwards as these information will already be there in the answer-sheets.
Addressing media persons at BSEB headquarters here, Kishor said the step has been taken to minimize the mistakes committed by students in circling the OMR sheet of answer copies during board examinations. "The students will now have to fill only three columns - medium of examination, candidate's signature and question set number," Kishor said.
The BSEB chief said Bihar would be the first state to implement this system. "Only Himachal Pradesh state board provides names of candidates on answer-sheets but not in a way we have planned to implement. The board has already started the work. The new system will be applicable from the practical examinations of classes X and XII to be held in January next year," he said.
"Students will now get more time to read the question papers. The step will certainly benefit the students, especially the ones from rural areas who usually make mistakes in filling up OMR sheets," the BSEB chairman said.
He added the admit card for students appearing in Matriculation and Intermediate exams next year would be released on November 28. "Students can download admit cards from the BSEB's official website www.biharboardonline.bihar.gov.in between November 28 and December 7," he said.
The BSEB has also decided to prepare 10 sets of question papers (from A to J) this time. Altogether 13,00,492 students will appear for Class XII board examinations to be held from February 6 to 16 and 16,57,257 students for Class X exams between February 21 and 28 next year.
