The driver of a Kerala-bound bus sustained grievous injuries when three men allegedly dragged him out of the vehicle and attacked him with an iron rod in a suspected roadrage incident near Jnanabharati railway station on Saturday.
According to the police, the bus belongs to Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and was driven by Anil kumar. It was headed to Bengaluru bus stand from Kozhikode and had around 20 passengers.
The bus reached Jnanabharati railway station around 5.45 a.m. and was moving down a narrow one-way road. The three men were in an SUV and were honking, apparently asking the driver to make way for them.
It was only much further down the road that the driver could find space to pull over and allow the SUV to overtake. However, the trio in the SUV were enraged and allegedly assaulted him, said the police. The conductor and a few passengers rushed to his help, by then the trio fled from the spot.
The profusely bleeding driver was taken to a hospital while the conductor stopped another bus to take the passengers to the bus stand.

Vishwanath is in the water supply business, Deepak is a flower vendor and Harish is a carpenter. They had gone to Vishwanath’s hometown in Mandya for a temple fest and were returning to Bengaluru when the alleged incident occurred, the police said.
