Indore: The high-octane election campaigns in which Congress and BJP candidates traded charges of corruption, farmers’ exploitation against each other will come to an end on Monday after 5 pm. This will follow a day of silent campaigning on Tuesday. Voting will take place on Wednesday.
Both the parties have claimed victory and will put maximum efforts to influence voters on the last day. In the last assembly elections, BJP had bagged eight out of nine seats in Indore district. Congress had only won Rau seat. This time, both the parties organised multiple rallies of their star campaigners.
Fearing loss, BJP or Congress brought in big leaders to campaign for their candidates. Constituency-3, which has become a prestige issue of BJP’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son Akash, remained focal point for every star campaigner. Those contesting on tickets of SAPAKS, AAP and other parties or as independent candidates will cover maximum area of their constituencies on last day.

Once election campaign ends, candidates will not be able to use social media, make calls and send SMS to voters after 5 pm on November 26. Election Commission has issued directives to this effect while keeping a close watch on social media activities of both political parties and their candidates.
