Royal Global School hosts sports meet

GUWAHATI: The 5th Royal Global School (RGS) inter-school sports meet, 2018 spurred off amidst much fanfare and enthusiasm here recently. The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, press officials, coaches and mentors of various participating teams as well as proud parents.

The event began with the unfurling of the school flag by the dignitaries, followed by a round of felicitation of the chief guest, Pabitra Ram Khound, state director of sports and youth welfare.

RGS head Anubha Goyal expressed happiness upon seeing the multitude of aspiring sportsmen assembled for the meet and wished them success in their endeavors. This was followed by a resplendent show of culture and tradition by the RGS students with a Tiwa dance. A breathtaking demonstration of crucial tactical moves was presented by members of Krav Maga, an organization specializing in self-defence strategies.


Two prominent coaches from the sporting fraternity, Nabab Ali (cricket coach) and Kamini Sharma (basketball coach), were conferred with the Royal Global School Khel Acharya award for their outstanding contribution to the world of sports.


Up next was a foot-tapping aerobics performance by the tiny tots of the host school. The oath-taking ceremony was then initiated by the RGS principal.


Earlier, in his address, chief guest Khound appreciated the manner in which RGS has provided opportunities for budding sportsmen to display their talents. He urged students to play sports on a more regular basis.
