Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday hit out at the ruling BJP, saying the days of the Haryana government are numbered as the people have made up their minds to vote out the “anti-people” government.
“The BJP stands exposed before the people of the State for the false promises it has made. All sections of society, be it farmers, workers, traders and government employees, have been hit by the anti-people policies of the party. No person is happy or safe as the State has become a hideout for criminals,” said Mr. Hooda in Hisar’s Barwala, where he launched the seventh phase of the “Jan Kranti Yatra”.
Mr. Hooda said that the Congress made Haryana the number one State in the country in development, but the BJP government had turned it into number one in crime against women. “Women, traders, travellers, government employees -- no one is safe in the State,” the former Chief Minister said.
Talking about the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal, Mr. Hooda said the canal would be the lifeline of Haryana and building it was critical for the State. “It is sad that the BJP government is not serious about building the canal and the main Opposition party, the INLD, is only indulging in drama in collusion with the government. Despite repeated reminders, the Chief Minister has not been able to seek time from the Prime Minister for an all-party delegation of leaders from Haryana in the last four years. We will not rest until we are able to get our due share of water,” he said.
“The INLD has been split into two and both the factions are blaming each other for working in connivance with the BJP. I have been saying that the INLD has become the B team of the BJP,” he said.
Promises galore
Mr. Hooda said once the Congress assumes power in the State it would increase old age pension by ₹300 per month, provide full electricity at half the price, bring a loan waiver scheme for the poor and farmers, provide unemployment allowance to the unemployed youth and waive all application fee for government services.
