Man assaults woman for refusing him company in South East Delhi

The Sunlight Colony Police Station on Saturday filed a complaint against an unidentified car driver for allegedly abducting and physically assaulting a 25-year-old woman. The accused later dumped the victim at the UP Gate in South East Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan area. She was admitted into a private hospital nearby early Saturday morning.

The victim had sustained serious injuries. It was only after she was discharged in the afternoon that she could record a statement before the police.

In her statement, the victim alleged that she was on her way to the Indraprastha Park to have lunch with her sister. Her sister was employed at a public toilet in the park as a substitute for her mother, who was unwell.

According to the complaint, the accused, in his thirties, stopped his car in front of the victim and offered her a lift. When the victim refused, the accused claimed that he was known to her mother and was going in the same direction so they she could go with him.

The victim made a call to her mother to check if the man was telling the truth, but when her mother denied knowing any such man, she rejected the offer. However, the accused returned after few minutes and this time he forced the woman inside his car.

"The case has been registered under sections 326, 354, 365 of Indian Penal Code on the basis of her statement and MLC. Teams have been formed to nab the accused," said Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East.

The section 326 of IPC refers to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, 354 refers to assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty and 365 refers to Kidnapping or abduction with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person.

Investigating officer said that the woman has not leveled any allegation of rape in her statement.
