Chemist supplying habit forming drugs arrested

LUDHIANA: The Special Task Force (STF) arrested the kingpin of a drug racket from Agra on Friday evening. The STF claimed Naval Kishore Singla, who is a wholesale pharmacist in Agra, allegedly used to supply habit-forming drugs to Punjab-based suppliers.

Singla was produced before the court on Saturday and was sent to six-day police custody.

Singla, 49, of Agra, was booked by STF Ludhiana. In a joint operation, Ludhiana and Jalandhar Special Task Force (STF) had seized a cache of habit-forming drugs worth Rs 2.13 crore from a city-based pharmacist and godown of a transport company.


The STF had seized 28.88 lakh pieces of habit-forming drugs including pills, capsules, injections and cough syrups. The STF had also seized Rs 6 lakh of drug money from the accused.


Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, Ludhiana unit of STF, said on Saturday, the STF conducted a raid in Agra following a tip-off and arrested the accused.


In July, the STF had arrested Manindervir Singh, 37, of New Patel Nagar and Surinder Kumar, 32, of Hoshiarpur. Based on the information provided by the duo, the STF had named Singla in the case.
