A 25-year-old woman has alleged that was forced into a car, harassed and physically assaulted by a man near Sarai Kale Khan on Friday evening. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
Hospital informed cops
A senior police officer said a private hospital in Ghaziabad informed them about the incident.
A woman admitted to the hospital had claimed that she was assaulted by the accused car driver, who forced her into the vehicle near the Millennium Indraprastha Park and then dumped her near Ghaziabad.
“The woman has sustained grievous injury and was unfit for a statement on Friday. A case under Section 326 [voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means] of the Indian Penal Code was registered,” the officer said.
On Saturday afternoon, the victim, a contractual worker in the Asian Games village, told the police that she had gone to deliver lunch to her sister, a washroom attendant in the park, around 4 p.m. on Friday.
“She said the accused came up to her and claimed that he knew her mother. He tried to persuade her to accompany him. However, the woman spoke to her mother. The mother told her that she did not know the man and the victim refused to accompany him,” the officer said.
The woman told the police that the accused started following her and forced her into the car near Millennium Park depot.
“On the way, he harassed and assaulted her. He dumped her from the car later,” the officer said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said based on the woman’s complaint, Sections 354 (molestation) and 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) have been added to the FIR, which was registered at Sunlight Colony police station.
He said eight teams have been formed to nab the accused.
