CHANDIGARH: The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, is going to start its platinum jubilee celebrations from November 26, marking the 90th birthday of Padma Shri Professor Harkishan Singh, who is also the emeritus professor at the UIPS.

Prof Singh, a well-known pharmaceutical academician, will be honoured on the occasion.

A memoir, which is a compilation of messages in the form of line memories from luminaries of the profession, colleagues and his students, will be presented to Prof Singh as a tribute.

He is the only person from the pharmaceutical education who has been awarded the Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions in the field of drug discovery and history of pharmacy," said Prof Chopra.

Moreover, the one-year long celebrations would conclude with a grand alumni meet next year, said Anurag Kuhad, assistant professor at the UIPS, adding that the family members of Prof Singh, distinguished guests and alumni from the US and Singapore, would also join the celebrations.
