LUCKNOW: After opposition parties, even BJP allies demanded deployment of the Army in Ayodhya on Sunday in light of a massive VHP rally to push for construction of Ram temple.
Welcoming Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s call to send in the Army, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief and cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said on Saturday that it would be chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s responsibility if something untoward took place in the temple town.
Rajbhar said that CM was campaigning in other states but he would be responsible for any trouble in Ayodhya.
“The DIG, IG, SP and DM have not been able to do anything. How will they manage the crowds if they go out of hand,” he said.
Meanwhile, BSP chief Mayawati said that BJP was behind the push for Ram temple, accusing it of using seers, VHP, RSS and Shiv Sena as a screen for its activities.
“I have campaigned in Chhattisgarh and MP and it is clear that BJP is not coming back to power in either. It will also lose in 2019 due to its failures and shortcomings. BJP and its allies, especially Shiv Sena, have realised this and they are now trying to divert attention from their failures,” she said.
She said that Ram Temple issue is pending in the Supreme Court and her advice to BJP was to wait for the court to sort out the matter.
