Barodians spoilt for choice, savour a week-long heritage treat
TNN | Nov 26, 2018, 04:01 ISTVadodara: Barodians were spoilt for choice this Heritage Week as they had a range of options to choose from. The Vadodara People’s Heritage Festival that concluded on Sunday saw participation from the citizens who turned up for dozens of events in different parts of the city that celebrated its 507th birthday this year.
Those interested in antique items were treated with the collection of water pots, traditional lamps, spoons, coins and paintings at the home museums. Heritage lovers were also up for a treat as they viewed some of the oldest havelis, ‘pols’ and the four gates in the walled city. A ‘heritage on cycle’ was also organized for biking enthusiasts apart from a visit to the Central Library.
Foodies had tasty treats as they explored the wonderful vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes in the city. Heritage lovers also experienced a unique ‘Temple Run’ as an auto-driver Ibrahim Jamdar took them on ride to some of the oldest temples in different areas of the city.
On Sunday that was the last day of the heritage week, it was a visual treat for citizens who took part in the heritage walk organised by M S University. From the ancient rock art exhibition organised with the support of Ministry of Culture at the historic Premanand Hall under the iconic double-dome of arts faculty to the ‘Dev ni Mori’ Buddh Vihara exhibition at the Department of Archaeology, heritage lovers got a chance to take a glimpse of the bygone era.
