Woman kills husband with daughter’s help

Rajkot: Tired of frequent fights over suspicion of her having an extramarital affair, a woman clubbed her husband to death and set his body ablaze with the help of her daughter in Devdi village of Talaja taluka in Bhavnagar district on Saturday. Both the accused were arrested on Sunday.
Police said the accused, identified as Vasant (50) and her daughter Arti (20) hit the victim, identified as Jairam Jadela (54), with a bat while he was asleep on a cot.

“When Jairam was rendered unconscious, they heaped hay over his body and the cot, poured kerosene over it and set it ablaze. We arrested the accused early morning on Sunday,” said J P Gadhvi, inspector of Talaja police station.

During interrogation, Vasant said that Jairam used to suspect her of having an extramarital affair. Tired of it, Vasant had walked out on Jairam and had gone to stay with her parents in Alang along with her daughter and son Mahesh, a decade ago.

“Two days ago, Vasant sent Mahesh and Arti to Jairam’s house to strike a compromise. However, Jairam abused them. When Arti complained to Vasant, she came to Jairam’s house, where Jairam again abused Vasant and both fought. Vasant and Arti were so furious over the incident that when Jairam went to sleep, they committed the crime,” added Gadhvi.
