Just For Fun: These Eight Would Make The Most Absurd Rally Cars

As cool as the top forms of rallying are, the fact that teams exclusively use souped-up hatchbacks somewhat distracts from the overall appeal of the sport. At least for some.

Now imagine a rally championship that ditched these hatchbacks for supercar-derived racing machines. Would that get you interested in the sport?

To create an idea of what a host of incredible, and absurd, supercar-based rally cars would look like, insurance company Budget Direct has published the following series of renders.

The first is a rally version of the extreme Bugatti Divo. The French automaker says that the Divo has better handling and driving dynamics than the Chiron. However, not even these improvements would make the Divo fit for rally stages. Nonetheless, it does look pretty impressive with rally wheels, a head-turning livery, and no less than six additional headlamps.

Another one of the eight supercar rally racers rendered is based on the Koenigsegg Regera. Of course, the Regera was designed to provide the ultimate in straight-line performance, but the vehicle’s advanced hybrid powertrain and unique transmission would give it the ability to accelerate out of tight corners at warp speed.

Other renderings include a Ford GT40, Ferrari Portofino, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, McLaren Senna, Tesla Model X, and just for the fun of it, a Reliant Robin. Yep, the three-wheeled British budget car that is as far distanced from the term ‘supercar’ than anything we know. Then again, this whole thing is supposed to be just for laughs, so why not?
