Man throws firearm stuffed in sweet box at former employer's house in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to threaten a timber merchant for extortion money, a man threw a country made pistol stuffed in a sweet box at his house. The incident occurred with Rajinder Singh, a resident of Jagadhari here. The accused was found to be none other than his former accountant who had taken away an amount of Rs 8 lakh till 2015.
Identified as Bharat Bhushan, the accused accountant, his friends Rajbir Singh alias Raju and Sunil have been arrested.
A case of extortion and Arms Act has been registered against them at city police station of Jagadhari. The entire episode came to light on Saturday night when a team of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Yamunanagar arrested the three accused.
According to sources, Bharat Bhushan (47) had worked as accountant with Rajinder Singh for a long time. It was between the years 2010 to 2015, he took Rs 8 lakh from him on the pretext of extortion calls received by him in office.
"Suspecting his behaviour, he was asked to leave the job. Now, most recently he called Rajinder and threatened him. A couple of days later on the night of November 19, he threw a firearm stuffed in a sweet box at Rajinder’s house following which Rajinder formally lodged a complaint,’’ said inspector Rakesh Kumar of the investigation team.
