NOIDA: Noida Authority has started the resurfacing work on a stretch of 52 km in sectors 62 and 63, which has been pending for the past five years. The Rs 40 crore project includes repairing 13.4 km stretch in Sector 62 and 38.6 km in Sector 63. The work will entail resurfacing all internal and main roads of the two sectors and broadening of the drainage network where required. The entire work is expected to be completed within a year, sources said.
“Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had directed that all roads in the state be made pothole-free and resurfaced. The repair work had been pending for long and I am glad that the Noida Authority finally took it up,” said Pankaj Singh, MLA, who inaugurated the work.
“Since the area of these sectors is huge, the process of resurfacing will take some time to complete,” said Rajeev Tyagi, general manager in-charge of work circle 1 to 5, under whom the work has started. Tyagi added that while Rs 16.4 crore had been sanctioned for 13.4 km road in Sector 62, another Rs 23.08 crore had been sanctioned for 38.63 km in Sector 63.
“The bitumen laying needs a certain temperature which cannot be done in extreme cold conditions. So, despite beginning work today, we will have to stop it in January and February next year. We will commence work from March onwards but will again have to stop in July-August due to monsoon. Hence the long timeline. However, we aim to complete the work by May-June 2019,” said Pradeep Garg, senior manager, work circle 4, who is overseeing the job.
