More than 50 of the 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan will see a triangular contest with rebels from both the BJP and the Congress remaining in the fray as independent candidates on many of these seats.
Marwar seat is not easy as it seems as former ministers Surendra Goyal and Laxminarayan Dave have now increased the concerns of the BJP by not withdrawing nomination on the last day.
Recently, state Minister Surendra Goyal resigned from the BJP after the party denied to give him a ticket to contest state Assembly elections. Goyal submitted his resignation in a two-line letter to state BJP president Madan Lal Saini. Goyal, however, has not withdrawn his name and is determined to contest the polls.
BJP has not given tickets to Priyanka Chaudhary in Barmer and Tarun Kaga in Chohtan, following which both the leaders resigned, but were persuaded not to revolt. But the BJP did not persuade former minister Surendra Goyal and Lakshminarayana Dave, who are still in the fray.
Similarly for Congress, former MLA Bhimraj Bhati, former MLA Khushvhir Singh and Rajesh Kumawat have also not withdrawn their names. Congress MLAs Kumbh Singh Patawat and Pappu Singh also pose a challenge for the party.
