NAVI MUMBAI: A Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) Undertaking bus was hit by a train at the unmanned railway crossing of Juinagar in which four bus passengers sustained injuries. The railway police force (RPF) at Sanpada car shed located 500 metres away from the accident spot took the injured passengers to Dr DY Patil Hospital in Nerul.

The incident occurred at 3 pm, when the NMMT bus on route number 18 from Vashi towards Ulwe was crossing the unmanned railway track at Juinagar.

The NMMT bus driver Rahul Gaikar (28) said, "I saw the train halted near the crossing and hence crossed the tracks as two auto rickshaws had crossed before me. But the train was probably at very slow speed as it had left the Sanpada car shed. After I crossed halfway, the train started moving and before I could cross the tracks it hit in the middle of the bus, thus injuring four passengers seated near the window on the right side of the bus."

However, an initial statement by the Central Railway CPRO said that no one was injured in the accident.
