Lucknow’s air quality still ‘very poor’

LUCKNOW: The high wind speed and less humidity levels kept the AQI below 310 in the city for the second consecutive day on Friday, but the air quality still remained ‘very poor’.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Lucknow dipped from 310 on Thursday to 308 on Friday.
The highest PM2.5 pollution concentration at the four locations — Lalbagh, Aliganj, Talkatora and Nishatganj — were also found to be less than that on Thursday. As per the live air monitoring conducted by the CPCB in four locations of the city, Lalbagh was the most polluted with PM2.5 concentration recorded highest of 303 micrograms per cubic metre of air. It was followed by Aliganj and Talkatora with concentration monitored to be 218 and 208 micrograms respectively. Nishatganj was least polluted with PM2.5 levels found to be 96.6 micrograms.
As compared to a day before when PM 2.5 concentration crossed 300 at two places, in Lalbagh and Aliganj and 250 in Nishatganj and Talkatora Friday was slightly better in terms of air toxicity. However, the prominent pollutant in the city’s air was PM2.5, the concentration levels of which were found to be higher than the safe limits of 60 micrograms per cubic metre of air.
