A 23-year-old man, who was trying to fix a digital banner in connection with the fourth death anniversary of his father, died after coming in contact with a power cable late on Thursday night.

Police said K Karthik, a resident of Andersonpet near Tiruvallur, was trying to erect the banner on Chennai-Tirupati State highway when he came in contact with a high-voltage over-head cable on Thursday night. He was thrown off and landed on the road. Karthik was taken to the government hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
