TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday spoke to the former J&K Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, over the phone and expressed his solidarity with the People’s Democratic Front she heads. In a tweet, Mr. Naidu said, “Spoke with @MehboobaMufti ji over the phone today. Expressed solidarity with all the leaders fighting against injustice to save and protect democracy.”

Responding, Ms. Mufti said: “Thank you for your support Naiduji at this juncture when J&K is going through a difficult phase.”

On Thursday, reacting to J&K Governor’s decision to dissolve the J&K Assembly, Mr. Naidu tweeted, “Dissolving J&K Assembly without respecting people’s mandate & democratic conventions is another example of misuse of power & subversion of democracy by present union govt. Not calling the largest group to form govt. is unconstitutional & against the spirit of various SC judgements.”

Mr. Naidu has been trying to unite the regional parties to fight against the BJP ever since the TDP parted its ways with it.
