The Congress party has appealed to the state Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to instruct the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to immediately sack the Cooperation minister Subhash Deshmukh following state agriculture department's decision to revoke a grant worth Rs 24.81 crore sanctioned to the minister's family led Lokmangal Multistate Cooperative Housing Ltd in Solapur. The agriculture department issued the order on Thursday in the wake of probe report which had revealed that the firm had allegedly made use of bogus documents to avail the grant.

The Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president Sanjay Nirupam in a communication to the Governor has demanded that a case of forgery and cheating be filed against Deshmukh. He claimed that Deshmukh fraudulently withdrew government funds for a milk plant.
