Mumbai: The body of Ashwin Lalitkumar Jain, 39, a gold commission agent, was found inside his car on Friday afternoon near Finlay Mills at Lalbaug. Ashwin had allegedly shot himself in the head with his father’s licensed revolver. According to police, Ashwin had been facing a financial crisis and was heavily in debt. On Thursday, Ashwin is said to have left his residence around 2 pm but did not return at night.
His father Lalit Kumar approached the police to register a missing complaint. According to police, Ashwin had sent messages to his father and friends on Thursday evening, saying, “My life is over, I am leaving this world.” His body was found inside his yellow Wagon R car on Friday, at 1.45 pm near Kalpataru Habitat, opposite Finlay Mills on Sai Baba Road, Lalbaug.Ashwin was declared dead by doctors at the Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeeboy Hospital at 3.45 pm on Friday.
Abhinash Kumar, deputy commissioner of police, zone 3, said, “Ashwin’s body was found in his car on Friday. We have recorded the statements of his family members. According to his father, Ashwin was depressed since he was suffering huge losses and had bad debts to repay. We have registered an Accidental Death Record in this matter.”Ashwin was a resident of Khatav building at Parel. An Accidental Death Record (ADR) was registered by police on Friday evening.
